I have a Border/Jack Russell cross. What a character! Also what beautiful natures these little friends have. They are quite simply The BEST. My precious little one is now almost 18 1/2 years old, and still full of the joys of life. I have cherished every moment I have had with him.

Thank you for this website! I just rescued a 3 1/2 month old border terrier/shepherd mix and am grateful to find so much information about this wonderful dog on the internet. One question I had regarding their health is I understand they can be prone to CECS (Canine Epileptoid Cramping Syndrome). Through research and study, it has been determined that the primary cause and contributing factor is dietary. A raw diet for optimum health has been recommended to me by several people who have owned a BT. In addition, it is recommended to avoid any high protein treats and all rawhide, bully sticks, hooves, etc. Do you have any information to offer on the subject and further any suggestions for healthy chewies given this breeds propensity to chew EVERYTHING (especially as pups)? I am grateful for their long life expectancy, but don’t want to risk any challenges to her health due to my own ignorance in these areas. Many thanks for anything you have to offer.
