Border Terrier….a Low-Maintenance Breed!

D Dog Fan | April 7th, 2008

The Border Terrier is a low-maintence breed when it comes to grooming and beauty care.

To care for this breed all you need to do is brush their coats and bathe them only when necessary. Border Terriers’ wiry coats need only minimal grooming. Knots rarely appear, but when they do, they should be clipped out and brushed occasionally with a bristle brush that is the ideal type od brush for the breed. The coat on the head, legs, neck and top of tail should be trimmed. When debris gets caught in their coat you will want to remove it as soon as possible to prevent matting and skin irritation from occuring. If you don’t remove it, you will have a day and a half of lip-biting grooming sessions ahead of you…and a growl or two from your beloved dog!

  1. I have a Border/Jack Russell cross. What a character! Also what beautiful natures these little friends have. They are quite simply The BEST. My precious little one is now almost 18 1/2 years old, and still full of the joys of life. I have cherished every moment I have had with him.
